FHA Home Loan Requirements

FHA Home Loan Requirements and FHA Loan Requirements are the same and used interchangeably. In general, requirements for FHA mortgages are a little more lenient than conventional mortgages. In short, here are some requirements:

  • Have you had stable income for at least 3 years?
  • Can you make a 3% down payment on a home?
  • Planning to buy a home, condo or manufactured home?
  • Will this be your primary residence?

In addition to these requirements, you (the borrower) must also make sure that the monthly mortgage payment falls below 30 percent of your monthly gross income. Please refer to our FHA Loan Requirements page for more details. Because FHA loan requirements can change, it may be a good idea to check with your lender (or potential lender, if you don't have one yet) to get the most current requirements.
